Human evolution - not our greatest accomplishment

Well Ladies and Gents here you go! According to a new study if you ever get lost and need to find north, locate a cow because they reportedly align themselves with Earth's north-south magnetic fields when grazing or resting.

Scientists have now used Google Earth to study the alignment of 8510 cows in 308 pastures around the world. It is already known that many species use the Earth's magnetic field to navigate across the planet. Examples include migratory turtles, salmon, termites and birds.

The animals are thought to use their own internal magnets made of crystals of magnetite.

So my obvious question is this. If we, 'the dominant species' are so smart then why didn't we (if you believe in Darwinism) evolve into something better than we are! If I could decide then three things would be different:
  1. First we would have this 'magnetic sense' so that we don't waste our time with GPS systems that tell us "you have arrived at our location" just after you accidently drive into the local pond because you truly believed that little voice would never lie.

  2. Second... gills. Need I say more? If we had gills like fish then we could breath underwater - just imagine - the possibilities are endless! It would bring a whole new meaning to the good old bath routine.

  3. And finally, the most obvious of them all - WHERE THE HELL ARE OUR GOD DAMN WINGS??? Think about it, no need for cars, and definately no need for these so-called 'eco-cars' that yes, help the environment, but are so overpriced that only a slim few can afford.
Yes Ladies & Gents it is undeniable - we have indeed got the short end of the stick!

ends.
